Foley, BFA

As a metalsmith, Foley creates physically and emotionally weight-bearing forms in copper, a soft metal comparable to flesh. She explores the boundaries of allure, temptation, and the gaze as it relates to the female body. Through making, she processes the experience of being seen, admired, and objectified- conditions of being socialized as a woman in a patriarchal society. Her work is an attempt to reclaim the power in being the observed.
